A Statue of Alexander

As a bearer of Greek ideals, Alexander the Great conquered the whole of Greece and the Eastern world in the 4th century B.C. He was the son of the king of Macedonia, Philip II and of Olympiada, a princess from Epirus. He mounted on the throne of Macedonia after his father’s assassination in the year 335 B.C.

His conquests did not entail catastrophes but instead, a trove of civilization.

Alexander is the apostle of the Greek ideals. He is their applier. He is the crest of these manifestations. He was the first to proclaim the idea that led to the mighty “Pax Romana,” the only precondition of the consolidation and constant proliferation of Christianity.

I based the above embroidery on a picture I was given by Greek-American Professor Daniel of a statue of Alexander that adorns a square in the north-eastern Greek city of Kavala.

I often base my designs and embroideries on pictures. At a size of 48cm x 74cm this is my largest artwork to date.

I have been offering my embroideries as gifts to distinguished personalities from Greece and abroad since the 2008 Beijing Olympics out of love for my country and my desire to demonstrate the nobility of the Greek people. In my conviction, Greece is the country of light and civilization.

TRANSLATION OF LETTER:

From Professor Daniel T.

Dear Mrs. Kondovraki,

It was with great joy that I received your registered letter and we are very happy that you are in good health and that you continue your admirable work with great success.

About politics, I'm almost not concerned at all. Today we have deep economic crisis in Greece, which is the result of a deep moral crisis. I believe that no doubt, only God (no politician) can change the disposition of our heart and the course of our life. Prosperity and peace can come to all people when we give the due glory to God above and we get rid of the weight and the slavery of sin.

If you wish, please send me your personal card (with or without photograph) in order to introduce you to other people. I wish you every blessing for the New Year.

LETTERHEAD:

Blessed is the man, who endures trial, for when he has stood the test he will receive the crown of life which God has promised to those who love Him. - James 1:12
