Flags of Great Britain and China

I have woven these embroideries of the flags of China (28x25cm) and Great Britain (28x25cm) the countries that are to host to next two Olympic Games – China, later this year, the UK in 2012 – which I hope to present along with dozens of other embroideries at an exhibit during the Olympic Games in Beijing in 2008.

I feel deeply motivated to honour the host countries of the coming Games, because I feel deeply the heritage of Greece, which birthed the Olympics in 776 BC in Olympia, Peloponnese, and whose Olympic Spirit and Ideal need to captivate the world with the grandeur and beauty of sports every fourth year.

Furthermore, I would like to congratulate both countries and whole-heartedly encourage them to organize the best Olympic Games ever.

I hope that in 2008 the Olympic Spirit may once again shine brightly from the People’s Republic of China, a country that created a great ancient Far Eastern culture in the same way that Greece created one in the West. I appreciate and admire London, on the other hand, for its grandeur and I considers it my second home.

I would be particularly happy if the People’s Republic of China granted me an official invitation in order to bring my exhibition of artwork to Beijing to display it at the 2008 Games. In a similar request to Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II I was granted a positive answer for an exhibit in London during the Olympic Games in 2012.
