The Holy Spirit and the Day of Pentecost

The Feast of the Descent of the Holy Spirit upon the Apostles is the celebration of the triumph of Divine Love, the feast celebrating the unification of all people.

It ended the division that began thousands of years earlier when God caused everyone to speak in different languages and no longer understand one another.

By doing so, He destroyed the people’s evil intent over the Tower of Babel by bringing its construction to an end (Genesis 11: 5-9).

On the Day of Pentecost, the Holy Spirit descended upon the Apostles in the form of tongues of fire. The Apostles began to speak in various languages, yet they could understand one another (Acts of the Apostles 2: 1-13).

The grace of the Holy Spirit is capable of gathering and uniting the people of the world into one.

It is only the presence of the Spirit of God, acting as an unbreakable link among men and women that unites them without regard to nationality, age or social status.

I embroidered this card in order to honour the Holy Spirit, the supreme creator of the universe, the Son of God, our Lord Jesus Christ who was born into the troubled world.

He taught us to love our neighbor and He was crucified for us

I am also honouring, with this embroidered card, the Virgin Mary who, as you see in the picture, is crowned by the supreme creator of the universe and the Son of God.

This card shall be offered as a gift to the Metropolitan Bishop of Syros, Dorotheos.
