Presentation of Jesus at the Temple

The Presentation of Jesus at the Temple is one of the Great Feasts of the Orthodox Church.

In Greek, we call the celebration 'Hypapante’, which means ‘Meeting.’ The event is celebrated annually on February 2.

The Gospel of Luke (Luke 2:22-40) describes the event, where Mary and Joseph took the baby Jesus to the Temple in Jerusalem 40 days after his birth.

I created this embroidery to honour the Great Celebration of our Lord Jesus Christ throughout the world.

I will give it as a present to the Patriarch of Jerusalem Theophilos III.

Here is the Hail Mary prayer:

“Hail Mary, full of grace, our Lord is with thee.
Blessed art thou among women,
and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus.
From within you did the Son of Justice arise.
The Christ our God who lights those
in darkness
Holy Mary, Mother of God,
pray for us sinners, now, and in
the hour of our death.”
