Saint Catherine, the Great Martyr

The feast day of Saint Catherine of Alexandria is celebrated on 25 November.

She became a Christian at the age of 14 and converted hundreds of people to Christianity in her lifetime.

St. Catherine, a princess and scholar, was martyred in the 4th century by pagan Emperor Maxentius.

The glorious bride of Christ we worship,
Catherine the holy and patron of Sinai,
May she be of help to us;
She reduced the disrespectful to silence,
And when she was crowned a martyr,
All asked for the mercy of God.

I embroidered this card in order to honour Catherine the Great, martyr throughout the world who bears the name of Saint Catherine.

I will give it as a present to the monastery of Saint Catherine in Mount Sinai.
