The Stars And Stripes of the U.S.A.

The American flag, called The Stars And Stripes, has represented the United States of America since 1777.

I hand embroidered this large artwork to honour America's new President Barack Obama and his family, and the nation he represents.

I sincerely hope and pray that the change he promised will come and America and the world will be a better place for it.

The world needs good, strong, visionary leaders, who sacrifice their own needs for the sake of the greater world, just like Alexander the Great did in his day.

We Greeks are proud of our great nation, and we look back at the many accomplishments it has achieved. America is young, like its new President, but its people are rightly proud of their country, and expect great things for its future.

Americans pledge their loyalty to America and its flag.

Here are the words of the pledge, which is called "The Pledge of Allegiance:"

"I Pledge Allegiance to the flag of the United States of America and to the Republic for which it stands,
one Nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all."

I would like to express these heart-felt words, that are welling up from the bottom of my heart: "May God bless America, but I would like to add - and emphasize - and all mankind."

The National Flag of the United States

The Olympic Winner and artist Katherine Kondovraki, honouring the country which she has cherished since her school age, has created this embroidery displaying the national emblem of the United States.

Her desire is to honour the candidate city of Chicago which is likely to be chosen to host and organize the Olympic Games in the year 2016.
